Monroe McKenzie of Woodstock, Vermont and Palmyra, Wisconsin

My great, great grandfather is Monroe MCKENZIE who was a shoe maker in Palmyra, Wisconsin. He and his wife, Clarinda Mather, moved to Wisconsin from Woodstock, Vermont. They had 5 children: Charlotte, Frederick, Monroe Jr., Pluma, and Evelyn (my great grandmother). I can trace Clarinda's family, but cannot find any information about who Monroe's parents or siblings are.
Monroe was born on March 27 1805 in Vermont and died on March 29 1883 in Wisconsin.
Anyone have some information about that?

My COON/RIDDELL/WESTCOTT family was in this location at about the same time. You may want to look on Ancestry and search the Card Catalog under Palmyra, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. I found some Plat Maps for Palmyra, Jefferson County that may help you. Also Check the BLM GLO website at: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ and search for Land Patents fir your ancestor.
Search the Dodge Jefferson County Genealogical Society website at:
http://www.dodgejeffgen.com/ One of the oldest cemetery in the area is Hillside Cemetery and they have a listing of the burials on this site. You might want to check the 1880 census on Family Search. I am working on a project for the Pro Gen Study group and hope to post my results soon check on my blog for other Palmyra, Wisconsin resources.
