Mary Leecie Guess was my great great grandmother! I have been searching for any information on her and trying to find out where she is buried. I just now happened upon this website and found your journal. All I know is James Amos Guess was born on November 24, 1873 in Denton County, Texas & Mary Leecie Gray (Guess) was born on April 22, 1883 in Llano County, Texas. I do not know what year they married but I do know their first child was born in 1898.

My grandmother is Ruby Joyce Forbus, daughter of Ruthie Anna (Guess) Holley.
All I know is that Mary Leecie died before my grandmother was born. I know she had her last child in 1915 and my grandmother was born in 1929. I know she spent some time in a psychiatric hospital after 1915 until she died; my grandmother thinks it was in the hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma. I think she may have died in 1920 at the age of 37??? My grandmother said my great grandmother remembers attending her funeral in Jumbo, Oklahoma so I checked the records of the cemetery there and she is not listed. However, they claim there are a lot of unmarked graves there.

I was able to find that my great great grandmother Mary Leecie Guess was actually in Central State Hospital, not Vinita. She was put in there by James Amos Guess (her husband) in 1915 and died there in 1930. She is buried in Antlers City Cemetery, Antlers, Oklahoma.
