"Name this poem and poet"

Journal by 1bobbylee

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering
wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering
Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the
blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

I thought I was being pretty smart ngairedith. I was not so smart after all. GOOGLE is many times smarter. Dummy me. I went into google and put in first line of poem. Bingo, popped right up... Poem, Author. So, I dug deeply into my books of poems.. Ah Ha.. I went into the middle of a long poem, picked out a short, probably obscure line. Put into Google. Bingo, up it popped. Correct poem, author and even the line I put in. Oh me! You probably remembered the poem from your studies and by your rememberance. I just can't beat modern technology. HEE HEE. You all have a good one.

I like these little poetry corners. Such a shame it isn't appreciated by the younger generation today. Unless you consider rap!
