- the Rev Mr Leighton, the new Incumbent of Christ Church, appears to have first arrived in NZ in May 1874 by the s.s. Alhambra. He spent most of his time in Nelson but lectured and preached all over NZ. In Nov 1888 this ad appeared in the Nelson paper the 'Colonist' - FOR SALE, Town section 507, fronting Bronti street and Brook street Stream, with Dwelling House and good Orchard, formerly in occupation of Rev Mr Leighton. Hi,
I believe Mr & Mrs W Shermon (passenger list The Star 14 September 1886 and shown in text as Shennan Sheanan or Shermon) were actually Watson Shennan & his bride Grace Burnet, married 17 June 1885 Half Morton Manse Dumfriesshire Scotland, headed for the South Island, most likely Dunedin, and ultimately Puketoi Station, Otago.

Daniel Denis Twomey b.1898 d.1986. May or may not be some connection.
