Peter Nolan

Journal by ding

I am looking for information on the birth of my G. Grandfather, Peter Nolan. He arrived in Australia from Horslip, County Offaly a.k.a. Kings, Ireland. He was about 10 when he arrived from Ireland in 1855 with his parents Peter Nolan & wife Sarah Jane ( nee Duffy). He is the father of Henry Charles Nolan/Nowlan. Could anyone help me in finding a birth entry/certificate from Ireland or how to go about finding it? Thank You Ding.

as far as i am aware birth certs for catholics were not compulsory by law until 1864 in ireland and other denominations from about the mid 1840s approx.your best bet might be parish records as a lot of them kept records prior to 1864.my own parish have records that go back to the 1760s.p.s.it is horseleap in county offaly.
