Robert Kemble, who died 30-8-1880, was a fellow publican of George Green Buck's, and a business partner. He had a hotel in the Wairarapa.
They jointly owned 1100 acres, in three titles on the Taratahi Plains Block in the Wairarapa, purchased at the end of 1866.
The mortgage documents still exist!

Michael
Thank you very much Michael for that information.
Do you kmow if that was the original Taratahi Hotel or was it another hotel in the area?
Presuming Henrietta was his wife?
One of my next steps is to investigate the land purchases as the aratahi area is large.
It appears Kemble arrived on the ship ?Adelaide,? 640 tons register, commanded by Capt. William Campbell, which left London on 18th September, 1839, and arrived at Port Nicholson on 7th March, 1840.
I have located exidence in the McLean papers that they were applying for land in The Pukengaki block - 635 acres in the heart of the Wairarapa Plains east of Greytown.
