I found this story about Santiago RAVIA on the internet. He came from Spain at the age of 10 years old with his sister, Emily, when their parents died in the plague. He came to live with his Uncle in Tampico, Mexico where he was sent to Mexico City to attend a Millitary Academy. He fought in the war with Santa Anna against Texas. He was an Officer in the Mounted Gun Patrole. and fought at the Battle of the Alamo. He was captured at San Jacinto, and was sent to the Island of Galvez. There he was asked to take the oath of allegence to Texas and was given 640 acres of land in Nacogdoches. where he lived with his wife and 8 children. 1850, Census, Santiago , age 49, Spain and Mexico, Rebecca, female, age 28, Kentucky, Lucinda, female, age 9, Texas, Meringa, male (nick named alex), age 8, Texas, Pilar, female, age7, Texas,( her name may have been Mary Emily Pilar, we have a picture of her), Joseph, 5, Texas, Alexander, age 4, Mary Ann, age 2, Texas, Peter Clestine, male 5 mo. , Charlotta, age fifty two ( Rebecca's Mother), 1 one girl unaccounted for in this census, her mane was Mary J. Santiago was Murdered in Shelby County in 1853, but all records were distroyed in the fire of the Courhouse. Santiago put all his land in Rebecca's name before he was killed and gave land in Nacogdoches maby having a feeling that something would happen to him. After Santiago died she Married a James Wyrick in 1853, December 8. We have the marriage cirtificate. He was a widower with children. She went to Grayson County with her children. Joe, Emily and Peter are all in Sherman Texas, where Adaline Perish ( name still spelled Rabia) We have marriage cirtificate. Dec. 25 1864. On that same day his sister got married. Joe and Adaline had, 4 children, Emma, the oldest, Mary Florence, ( my Grandmother), and William Riley ( we have all documents), and Ida. Mary Florence was my Grandmother and she had 14 children, one of which was my mother. Esta Lillie Belle, born in 1909, and died in 1991. She was 14 years old when she had me in 1923. I new Aunt Emm who was Mary Florence's Sister. I remember her well. My mane is Ada Long, maiden name Conner. In 1923 the The Grandson (Mike Conner) of David Rankin, ( who fought at San Jacinto and was there when Santiago was captured) married the great granddaughter of Santiago Ravia, who was my mother Esta Lillie Belle. We also have the 1900 census of William Rily Ravia ( Joe changed the name when he applied for Cherokee citizenship, more to come about that later), William Riley was in Indian Territory, born March 1870, in Texas. His wifes name was Molly, she was borm May 1876, in Texas. They had 2 children, Joe and Marvin. Joe born July 1896, in Indian Territoy, Marvin A. born Feb. 1898 in Indian Territory. In Ravia Oaklahoma there is a toomstone of one of Old Joe's grandchildren burried beside him. He fought in the first world war. Old Joseph's babtism records ar at Sacred Heart catholic church in Nacodgoches. More records can found at the Tishimino chicasaw coucil house museum in Oaklahoma.

Joseph Ravia was my great great grandfather. Looking for info on his daughter Ida.
