2 of their children were your query:
* George Frederick Carl Refardt (1882-1953) died 8 Feb 1953
* Doris Katherine Rennison (nee Refardt) (1880-1958) died 7 April 1957 in NZ

I realise you know all the Aussie side of things
I will just go see if I can find their burial places now and will get back to you
Katherine died at 7 Taft street, Brooklyn, Wellington on the 15 Oct 1916 and is buried Plot 168 A, CH ENG2 at Karori cemetery
Seems I may have her spouse wrong (above) but you will know that
It appears that the 2 children, George & Doris were the only children
Katherine & Doris arrived from Melbourne into Wellington on the 'Talune' 17 Aug 1908
In 1917 (at least), George Frederick Carl Refardt was a Surveyor's Assistant of 7 Taft street, Brooklyn, Wellington
George Frederick Refardt also died at Wellington and was cremated at Karori but his ashes not recorded as interred there
Thanks ngairedith.
I have all the details in my part of the world covered. Just needing to locate death and burial dates in NZ to complete their family details. I expect they will be buried in the same cemetery.
Doris & William lived in Motueka in 1916
They had the Commercial Hotel at Rimu, Hokitika in 1924
ok, final find :)
William Edward & Doris Katherine Rennison are buried Plots 505 & 506, Block 26 at Seaview Road Cemetery, Stoke, Nelson
their son, George Edward Refardt Rennison died 31 Aug 1961 and is buried Plot 10, Block 6A at Marsden Valley cemetery, Nelson
Thank you and well done ngairedith.
I noticed their was also a Mabel Alice REFARDT died 1965 in NZ aged 75 years. I expect she will belong to the family, but I don't know where she fits it as I never found a birth for her.
Thanks again ngairedith.
IOU1.
hi again tonkin,
yes, but thought you might have her ...
That was Mabel Alice FRITH (1890-1965) who married Katherine's son, George Frederick Carl Refardt (1882-1953) in 1917
As his ashes were taken away from Karori I am thinking they may be buried with her (wherever that is)
I'll go look for more
I thought he may have been buried near his mum. He and sister Doris were very close to her as they inserted Memoriam notices in the local papers from 1917-1934
George & Mabel had a family. Do you want them too?
I missed that marriage.
Knew she belonged in there somewhere. If you have the details of their family that would be great. I'll go have a look for the marriage.
don't know how extensive your posting is going to be BUT...
Mabel Alice Frith was born in Christchurch 6 Nov 1887 and died 22 March 1965 which would make her aged 77
She was a daughter of William FRITH (1956-1949 from Middlesex England - died Christchurch) & Sophia Mary SKELTON
Mabel had a daughter:
1912 - Doreen Lillian Frith who married Benjamin Bradley FRASER in 1933
George & Mabel married on 20 Sep 1917
they had a daughter:
1919 - 1982 Norma Alice Katherine Refardt
Norma was attending Berhampore School in Wellington in 1928 and did very well in sports. She was awarded a Senior Free pass from the Wellington Technical College in 1935 (aged 16). She was playing Basketball for Furlor, Senior B team, in the Representative Trials in 1938
Norma had a son, Mark Johann Refardt, who married Rachel Schmidt
Norma had a partner, Raymond SAVILLE (1919-1977)
Norma married Ben Arthur FLINTOFF (1915-1983) & had 3 children
2 corrections/additions
William FRITH (1856-1949) from Middlesex England
Mabel had a daughter: (1912 - 2002) Doreen Lillian Frith
did you know tonkin, that in 1920 Katherine Refardt, married woman of Walhalla, Victoria was the registered proprietor of Lot 26, Section 10, Swan Location 39, Plan 576, Broome and Collins streets, South Perth which was then valued at ?4 5s 1d
The Municipality of South Perth sold this, and many others, by auction on 20 July 1920 probably because they couldn't find her (having died 4 years earlier in NZ)
seems, by doing a bit of research on Katherine, that she was quite the business woman
Well done ngairedith.
Looking at Mabel's death in 1965 aged 75 years would put her year of birth circa 1890. The NZ births have Mabel's year of birth as 1888 to parents William and Sophia Mary. The birth year of 1888 may have been the year of registration if she was born in 1887. Her parents William FRITH and Sophia SKELTON were married in NZ in 1878.
Ages recorded at death were often wrong. You only become aware of these errors when you have the correct birth and death dates.
Once again I appreciate your time ngairedith.
Cheers.
