Researching Casey of Tipperary, Ireland

Query by samonza05

Hi I have been researching great grandfathers family. I have the most information on my great grandfather who emigrated for Ireland with his parents as a young child of 5-6 yrs. He came out with his parents and 1-2 brothers. Here goes on what I know
Grandmother Rea Jane McLean m Ernest Joseph Ake

Great grandmother: Ada Casey m Neil McLean

Great great grandfather: Thomas Casey married Rea Puwhoi
(b.1845? d.5.1.1909)

Great great great grandparents: Tom's father: John Casey married Mary O'Neill
Tom came from a poor farming family and Mary came from a wealthy family. Her father was a doctor.
As Tom grew older he worked in Moawhango working for a man with the surname Batley. Tom went around parts of the country buying horses for Mr Batley. On one of his trips to Turangi is where he het Rea who was to later become his wife.

John & Mary's children: Norah?(variation in spelling) Frank, Jack, Tom (youngest child)

Frank died as a child in Ireland.

John Casey was called upon by the British Army to fight in the Maori Land Wars around 1845

My family believe they came on the same ship as Rev Thomas Grace's family - the Grace children played with John & Mary's children the ship. Rev Grace came on the Fairy Queen in 1850 so dates do not quite add up. The ship the Casey family were on arrived in Auckland.

Mary O'Neill met and fell in love with an English officer on the ship to NZ.
John was wounded during the land wars and died shortly after from his wounds. Mary was then free to marry this English officer and they had three children together. One of their daughters was Ada.

Tom got on very well with his half sister, Ada, he named one of his daughters after her, (my great grandmother)

My family believe that Heather Begg (the famous opera singer is a descendant of Norah, Tom's sister. Tom and Norah never really got on.

Tom is buried in Gisborne as is his son Jack in another cemetery.

I am trying to track dow where each of these family members lived
*Tom's sister Norah and her descendant
* Who the English soldier was that Mary O'Neill married
* Ada's descendants were/are

I also want to link where the Casey's and the O'Neill's came from in Ireland and dates of births, baptisms, deaths and marriages.

No one in my family I have asked can go any further than what I have shared with you.
