Journal by BALX2000

Nicholas Harford/Hartford, b.c. 1676 and his wife Elizabeth Jenkins, b.c.1680, lived in Dover, NH.
They had 12 children all born in Dover from 1701 thru 1724.
There are numerous descendants going by either the surnames HARFORD or HARTFORD as well as the surnames of the men the women married.
My descent from Nicholas follows:
Stephen Hartford, b. 1707 Dover, NH m. Susannah Wentworth
Solomon Hartford, b. 1758 Rochester, NH m. Mercy Farnham
William Hartford, b. 1789 Lebanon, ME m. Apphia Shorey
William Hartford, Jr.,b. 1824 Lebanon, ME m. Rachel Perkins
Georgia Hartford, b. 1872 Blanchard, ME m. Thomas Rutland
Marjorie Rutland, b. 1911 Stamford, CT m. Joseph Oscar Johnson
Barbara Johnson (that's me)

Another descent I have from Nicholas goes down thru Solomon above, and then from his oldest daughter:
Alice/Elsie Hartford, b. 1776 m. Nathaniel Tuttle
Mary Burr Tuttle, b. 1800 m. Robert Perkins
Rachel Perkins, b. 1835 Rome, ME m. William Hartford, Jr., b. 1824 Lebanon, ME (listed above)and the line is the same from there down.

I have accumulated a lot of information on Nicholas's descendants and will share.

Bobert,
What is your line of Harford/Hartford descent? I've already connected quite a few of the lines.

Hi Barbra,

Its a bit of a story, as things always seem to be, but I believe that the Harford family I came from are the same as those from Maine. There was only one William Harford who served in the Rev War and he was from Lincoln Co, MA (now ME). He lived out the rest of his days in Georgetown, Lincoln, Maine. One of his children is suppose to be Charles Harford b. 1769.

This William must be a grandson of Nicholas Harford, so the question I am dealing with right now is: who is the middle man? Which one of Nicholas' sons had a son named William that lived out his life in Georgetown?

In my opinion, it is either Benjamin or Joseph because both lived in Lincoln Co. William must have been born c 1740.

My great grandmother was a Harford.

Any insight?

The William Harford who lived in Georgetown was b abt 1728 in prob Dover, NH, son of Joseph & Dorothy(Furbish)Harford. William d Georgetown 19 Sept 1812 (G. VR 3:29). He m. Elizabeth (surname unknown). She d Georgetown 23 Feb 1814 (G. VR 3:28). All their children except Nancy are recorded in G. VR 1:56-58. Their one and only son was Joseph. NO CHARLES.
What was your grandmother's name and when and where was she born? Do you know her parents' names and when and where they were born?
