Welcome ellenfinn23.

Can you assist with some names and dates of your VOGT family?

by ellenfinn23 on 2012-12-28 23:24:18

Thank you for your response. I am researching my husband's family of Vogt. Know a lot about them, but am trying to find out when they came to Australia and on what ship. Johan Herman Vogt, Maria Elisabetha Kellner - maried 1844 in Frankfurt AmMain,Hessen. Children Adolph Conrad Christian, John Hermann, George Leonard, Conrad Otto, Paul Peter, Francis (Franz), William Hugh, Charles Frederick Euguene, The first six were born in Germany, and William and Charles in Kew Victoria.
Any help would appreciated.
Regards Jan Chapman.

Nothing coming up in the immigration records, but I have only glanced at Immigration to Victoria. They may have been recorded under a different spelling.

Just to assist other members their first child (Hugh William) was born in Kew, Victoria, in 1859, so they arrived before '59.

Thanks for you reply, forgot to say they went to South Australia, not Victoria.
Regards Jan.

Had an idea they may have been in South Australia.

I've searched the passenger lists in South Australia going back to 1850. There were VOGTS recorded, but no mention of your family.

To get a bit of an idea when they arrived in Australia the year their last child born in Germany would help.

And, if you have Johan or Maria's death certificate it should state how long they had been living in Australia.

Every little bit helps.

Yes this is them, thank you so very much for your help. As is the case the names were transcribed into English. They had a very colourful history here. Do you search for other names?
Once again many thanks
Regards Jan.

Thank you Jan.
Happy I could help in some small way.

If your looking for another family put some details together in another journal.
One name, one journal. People don't get confused that way.

Many thanks for your reply.

See journal from 'Sharzie' also researching the same VOGT family.

To find the VOGT journals key in VOGT in the search box top right hand corner of page and click search.

Cheers.
