RITCHIE FAMILY from Rosehearty, Aberdeenshire.

Journal by moresmall

Hi all

Has anyone got any of the following names in their family tree.

My gt grandfather was Joseph Ritchie 1860 - 1930, he married 1st a Mary Ann Mitchell 1860-1904, then Annie Watt 1873-1957. Annie was from Gamrie.

Jospeh & Mary Ann had 7 children: Alexander, Jane (my grandmother), Christian, Jessie, William, Elizabeth & Lewis. Joseph & Annie had 1 daughter, Annie Taylor Ritchie.

Joseph was the owner of the local fishing boat "Marconi", but after a fire on board, he lost his nerve for fishing, and did not return to the sea. His 2nd wife ran a fish smoking business, and Joseph sold the fish for her.

Joseph's parents were John Ritchie 1821-1902 & Ann Taylor 1824-1896.

Any of these names sound familiar, please get in touch with me.

Maureen.

Joseph Ritchie was my great great grandfather. His daughter Jessie was my great grandmother and her oldest son Charles was my Grandad. I remember visiting Joseph's youngest son Louis and his wife Nancy in Rosehearty when I was a little girl. I also remeber Annie Taylor Ritchie and her half sister Barbara Ann.
