ROBERT was my great-grandfather.What I am trying to find out is my grandmother's maiden name.Before he was married to his second wife,IDA COON,he was married to BELLE?.
They had a baby named ALMA BAXTER who died very young,and then they had my grandma,ANNA BAXTER,who was born 02/22/1885 near Pleasantville,Iowa.

I'm not sure if there is a connection but may be something you could look into. My GGrandfather was Nicholas Baxter born to John Baxter app. 1852 in Ohio. I don't know if Nicholas had siblings or not. The John Baxter I am speaking of married Mabel Annabust and my GGrandfather, Nicholas was married to Ida Cooper. Hope it helps.

Mildred June (Baxter) Wilder, 88, wife of Earl P. Wilder, of Portsmouth, N.H., died Monday, May 31 at the Mark H. Wentworth Home in Portsmouth.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on June 29, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Maude Mary (Thompson) Baxter. She was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1933; Fisher Business School, Somerville, Mass., Class of 1934; and Forsyth Dental School, Boston, Mass., Class of 1935. Mrs. Wilder was the editor of the yearbook for Forsyth that year.
She was a practicing dental hygienist for the State of New Hampshire and brought the state fluoride program to Portsmouth area schools. She also was President of the Haven School PTA for many years, served on the Girl Scout Council, and was President of the PHS parent music organization.
Mrs. Wilder loved playing the piano, everything from classical to Christmas carols to Scott Joplin's ragtime favorites. She was a member of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth for over 50 years, a member of the Ann Judson Women's Group and taught Sunday school. She helped with Church dinners, the annual pancake breakfast and was editor of the Middle Street Baptist Church Cookbook. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Somerville, Mass. and the Republican Club. She enjoyed organizing neighborhood parties, reading, and traveling. She was a lifelong summer resident of Southport, spending many summers at the Baxter/Wilder cottage on Thompson Hill overlooking Townsend Gut.
She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Ralph Baxter of Littleton, Mass.
Besides her husband of 65 years, survivors include her three children, Richard C. Wilder of Portsmouth, Suzanne W. Cleveland of Manchester, N.H., and David E. Wilder of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, N.H. on Thursday, June 3. She will be buried in Decker Cemetery on Southport.

Percy F. (Vana) Markham, 80, of Aurora passed away peacefully with family at his bedside on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Community Nursing Home in Naperville. He was born June 30, 1923 in Aurora the son of the late Peter L. Grace P. (Baxter) Vana.
Percy was a WWII Veteran in the 423rd Infantry, receiving both the American Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post #103 in Aurora.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his loving wife Helen G. Markham of Aurora; three daughters, Patsy (Pedro) Zepeda, Grace Kitner both of Aurora and Linda (Gerald) Bernauer of Davenport, Iowa; his stepsons, Gary Poss Norbert (Michelle) Poss both of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; five brothers, Milton Vana, John Bergholm, Robert Vana, Lavern Markham and Danny Rush.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie Mae Markham; a son-in-law, David Kitner; two brothers, Eugene and Peter Vana; and his parents.
Visitation for Mr. Markham will be on Thursday, July 17, 2003 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dieterle Memorial Home. Funeral Home services will be on Friday, July 18, at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Fr. Jerome Leake will officiate with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery.

Milton M. Vanna, 81, of rural Cameron/Chetek, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at his home with his daughters by his side.
He was born April 2, 1925, in Aurora, Ill., to Peter and Grace P. (Baxter) Vana. He married Marie E. Klug Aug. 7, 1947, and they were blessed with three daughters: Rose, Roxanna, and Theresa.
Milton worked for many organizations and businesses. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1950. He moved to California and was a practical nurse for Beverly Manor before retiring in 1986. Upon his retirement he moved to the Chetek/Cameron area where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Boniface Catholic Church and a faithful employee at County Market in Rice Lake.
Milton is survived by two daughters, Rose Wagner and Teresa Cyrus, both of rural Cameron; son-in-law, Eugene Cyrus; three granddaughters, Veronica Turner, Latricia Cyrus and Reginia Cyrus, all of rural Cameron; one grandson, Joseph Wagner of Cameron; two step-grandsons; one step-granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; three step-great-granddaughters; five step-great-grandsons; one brother, Bobby Vana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; daughter, Roxanna; and five brothers.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 19, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek, with Father Pat Hardy officiating. Burial took place at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. A prayer service was held at the funeral home. Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by Howard-Campbell-Ganske American Legion Post #179.
