Alice JEFFREY was born on the 04 November 1869 at Waitpinga, South Australia. Her parents were George JEFFREY and Mary TONKIN. Alice died at Laura, South Australia, on the 08 August 1909, aged 39 years.

Note.
John remarried a few years after Alice's death to Alice May BOWKER. They were married in the Baptist Church in Laura, South Australia, on the 12 September 1911. This time John was recorded as Johann Freidrich Wilhelm ROENNFELDT. There were children to this marriage but I have not followed these lines.

The following information may be of help to you.
Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Roennfeldt (Ronnfeldt) was born near Greenock (South Australia) 7th October 1866.
He learnt the trade of saddler in Adelaide and in 1886 moved to Laura where he opened a saddlery business. He married Alice Jeffrey (born 1869) and they had two children

Edwin (which is probably Edmund John)
Alice died in 1909 and Johann (John) maarried Alice May Bowker in 12th Setpember 1911. SHe was born on 15th October 1878. There were 3 children from this second marriage. Alice May died 11th February 1936.

Johann was active in town affairs, being mayor for two periods over 16 years.
In 1948 Johann retired from his buiness and live with his daughter Joyce in Adelaide. He died on 20th February 1952 aged 85.

So ... John was born Johann. No wonder I had trouble trying to find his birth. The variations in the spelling of the names do not help much. I will go back through the records again and see what I come up with.
I still have a few missing details on my family tree regarding John (Johann) and Alice and would be happy to exchange my research findings with you. Please let me know if you are interested.

Erhardt Franz Wilhelm Roennfeldt was my grandfather.
Franz Ludwig had 10 sons and daughters.
I would be glad to exchange more information.
Do you have a copy of the Ronnfeldt Family history book? A family reunion was held at Tanunda (SA) in 1971-72.

heatherm on 2011-10-11 10:49:13I have been researching the Roennfeldt's as my g/mother's sister married Frank Bertram Roennfeldt. I have seen a couple of pages photocopied from the Roennfeldt book that a relation sent to me
