Roka(Hauraki) Robinson b Waikato 1832
My gg grandmother went away sometime after 1855 leaving 3 children with their father. No one has been able to put together where Roka went. I am following a strong lead that Roka Robinson went up North and married another Robinson.
17th March 2017. I now have proof that Roka Hauraki did in fact marry William Robinson 1862
William & Roka had the following children all born Hokianga Northland
Elizabeth b 1860 m Thomas Whittaker
Sarah Jane b 1862 m Charles Connor
James Rowe b 1865 m Maraea Shelford
William b 1867 m Te Raanake & Te Araroa
Jane b 1868 m John Francis Baker (Frank)
Peter b 1868 m Anne Quartermain
Esther b 1874 m Robert Strongman
Louisa b 1879 m Henry Gardiner
Daisy b 1881 m William Tidyman/Hardiman
I would welcome any discussion on any of this family

Hello Lee-Ana Robinson
Just realised your grandfather was Te Ngaue as you have already pointed out
My apologies for that
I have just looked up what I have for Te Ngaue m Katarina Wepiha and I only have Margaret and Daphne & their husbands
This came about because I matched descendants of these 2 girls via a DNA match
Exciting finding another relative

Yes my Koro Te Ngaue had a daughter to his first wife, daughters name is Margaret. Aunty Margaret married a Wineera. We keep in close contact with our Wineera wānau here in Hawera,Taranaki.
Then my Koro Te Ngaue had 8 more children to my nan Kataraina Wepiha.

Hi
Roka is my ggg grandmother through her daughter Susannah, and James, Roka's first husband.
This is what I know. Roka married James in 1850 in Taupiri, in the Waikato. Her father was Paora Huraki (or Hauraki - not sure of the spelling) who was the chief of Ngati Whauroa. They lived in the Ngaruawahia area. She then moved to Waiuku and then presumably up north to Horeke. There she married William Robinson (dont think they were brothers), who drowned in 1881. She died in 1910 in the Waikato and is buried up north about 10 kms from Horeke, in a Maori Cemetery belonging to the Muriwai family. I visited this a couple of weeks ago, so I know that is definitely true. I was puzzled as she is all by herself with no relations around her. I am also puzzled by her story. If anyone else has info, or corrections to what I think I know, would love to hear from you. Delwyn
