Sorry, that's all I know. Jan
Dear Janilye,
Again thank you ever so much for your speedy response. The next step is to find out where James Summers and Esther Rofe were born & when they were married and arrived in Australia.
Kind regards.
Here's the marriage registration:- 2395/1872 SUMMERS JAMES ROLFE ESTHER INVERELL
Esther's death:-6901/1921 SUMMERS ESTHER JOSEPH SARAH A INVERELL
I don't know when Esther was born but her father was Joseph Rolfe born in Mildenhall,Suffolk in 1809 he arrived as an assisted immigrant in australia on 10 March 1853 from Feltwell, Norfolk, on the 'Trafalgar' and he died at Inverell on 27 September 1902
He arrived with wife Sarah Ann ?? and four children Edward, Maria, James, and Josiah. So I think Esther was born Here after 1853. They were Methodists so maybe you can find a church record.

Dear Jeff, You really need Esther's death certificate to confirm Joseph Rolfe as her father. I mean just because he died in Inverell does not prove he was her father. When Joseph and his wife came here the eldest child was 11 and the youngest only 3 so there is a strong possibility he had more children. The 1851 Census gives both he and his wife Sarah Ann both born at Feltwell and the children were born at Hilgay.
There was a William and Sarah Rolph who lived up around Wellingrove/Maitland they had a daughter Esther so that may be worth looking at if Joseph doesn't pan out.
If I come across anything else I'll let you know, Jan
Looks like there were more children

This MIGHT be your James! James Summers born in Parramatta NSW in 1846 the son of James Summers and Jane, nee Cullen and died in 1919 at Glen Innes. Father James Summers b:1800, London was married to Jane Cullen at St.John's Parramatta in 1845. Jane Cullen arrived FREE on the 'William Hughes' and husband James arrived as a convict sentenced to life on the 'Glory. My sources, 'Convicts applications to marry 1845 and NSW BD&M. What bothers me about this reference is the place of death of James jnr. I did find another death of a James Summers at Inverell in 1880 Parents James and Elizabeth. I could not find any marriage registered in NSW between these two. Ball's in your court now Jeff. Regards, Jan
Hi Jeff,
I noticed your postings several years ago. I am also researching James Summers/Jane Cullen/Elizabeth Hubbard. I would be interested in sharing information.
Regards
Marci Delaney
What confuses me is that family information is that Jane Cullen was James Summers/Somers mother, but on page 2 of Debretts early research for another member of the family were concentrating on finding a son, James Charles Somers/Summers, of James Summers and Elizabeth Hubbard. page 1 is missing, so I don't know how that occurred.

I think it is more likely that James died in Inverell, but whether that is James Sr or James Jr, I don't know. "Dad's grandfather on his mother's side (Summers) had a property outside Inverell called Eastnor and Desleigh and I took Dad down there a year or so before his death. We found the property and the remains of the original home."

Can you fill in any further details in the above? some info (Re: Delaney children obtained from NSW bdm).
I found this obituary or Death Notice for James Summers (thus the death in Glen Innes)
The Voice of the North ? Friday 7 Feb 1919 INVERFLL IDENTITY PASSES.
