Ruhia te Ahua from Maniapoto

Journal by rereahu1

Tena Koutou nga whanau Maori?

I am called Barbara Te Waiti Taniora: I have come across nan's name in Manawatu-Kukutauaki No 3 Block- Manawatu District.

Her name there is Ruhia te Ahua and her fathers name: Utiku te Ahua and other members of the whanau being Ropata te Ahua.

She has other names and is also known as Ruhia Pukunui Ropata and her mother name is: Ngaruri and Ngaruri mothers name is Mamae Kee also [Rangimoeakau] from Waikato and Raukawa i Wharepuhunga.

Would be interesting to refind these information which I had over 25 years ago and I can not lay my hands on the papers at the moment.

My mother was her youngest child born 2nd February 1918 and nanny died 9 months later and is buried at Miringa Te Kakara. My mother has 2 sisters [1] Mootu Te Huia {Tiahuia} and Te Waiti Te Wera as you can see all 3 daughters had diferent fathers.

3 daughters were all in Maungatautari and those lands came from Ngaruri who in turn got them from her mother Mamaeroa Rangimoeakau [Kee]

I have a photo of my mother and nanny Ruhia, and her mother Ngaruri - I wish to find Mootu buried at [Rewatu] Mangatoatoa and nanny Ngaruri Utiku Ropata is at Waimiha Marae and nanny Mamaeroa Kee at Aotearoa Marae.
