Rumneys of Manorgill, Forest & Frith, Durham
Would like to know if anyone else is researching the Rumneys. They lived at Manorgill for almost a century. Would like to know more about them other than the information from parish registers. Am very interested in Pheobe who married a Bainbridge around 1850. The line i would like to know about moved to darlington in the 1890s. Any info appreciated. Also Henry Mansfield born 1860, in Yorkshire, father of Elizabeth who married William Rumney in 1903.

Thanks for the info. I had the census information, but i thought that the name change was a mistake. I should have checked the deaths records but didnt. It explains a lot. It is possible she died just after her son ernest was born, or that there was another child that died with her. I know most of the census information for Pheobe Rumney as well. Though i had hoped to shed some light on the paternity of her son John Rumney. There were numerous John's who could be his father, but only one died around the same time that may be his father. But thank you for the digging anyway. Mary
I'm a little confused from your post

Are you saying that the grandson on the 1851 is Phoebe's son?
Do you have the birth certificate for John Rumney born 1848 showing Phoebe Rumney as mother and a John Rumney as father?
This may be his birth
Births Jun 1848 (>99%)
RUMNEY John Teesdale 24 398
you would need to purchase certificate to verify details.
