My father's name was Donald Stewart Moffat. He was born at Clermont, Queensland, in 1929. I have only just started researching so I may not be able to help you, but we may be related through a Moffat connection. Abi.

My grandparents and great grandparents came from Scotland, but some of the generation before them came from Ireland. Before I lost contact with the family in the 1960s the last known adresses were Cobitty and Narellan, NSW. Family given names through my father include Joy, Douglas, Alexander, Stewart, and of course Moffat.

I am also looking for Margaret Moffat, born around 1850 who died 22 March, 1919, at Greenburn, Fauldhouse, Linlithgow, Scotland. Margaret is the daughter of Robert Moffat and Agnes Currie.

Margaret Moffat is Samuel Moffat McCord's great grandmother. Margaret was married to William McCord who was born in Ireland around 1828. He died July 17, 1919 at Greenburn, Linlithgow, Scotland.

Now here is where it gets complicated. There are two different Moffat strands in my family line. Donald Stewart Moffat may not be related to Samuel, Margaret, or Robert Moffat, even though he is my father. But I still am, through my mother, Ruth Sullivan, who married another Moffat - Donald Stewart Moffat - in Cessnock NSW, Australia.

If you are still with me, and we have some relatives in common, direct or by marriage, I would love to hear from you. Cheers 2 u 2 - Abi.

PS. I wish I was in Bundy 2. It is freezing here. Well, it is for a Queenslander.

Robert Moffat is the farthest I have gone back -about 1830? Appears to be a Cloonytrace Skirry Ireland connection. Robert married Agnes Currie. Their daughter Margaret married William McCord in Ballymena 1871 before moving to Scotland with him, where they both died, at Greenburn Fauldhouse Linlithgow Scotland 1919.

Samuel Moffat McCord, their son, came to Australia and died here in 1958. His daughter, Janet Ramsay McCord, born 1906, is my grandmother (deceased). On her wedding certificate she spelt her name Jannette, which is my middle name.

My earliest memory of my father is helping him bring the cows in on the farm at Cobbity. I had a swing over the strawberry patch in the front paddock between the school and the road that went past the front of the house. They are good memories.

Thanks for the opportunity to share them. Abi.

If any of this fits, please contact me.

Hi Lynne,

Specifically, from north Queensland, I am seeking the Moffat family that lived in and around Clermont. Donald Stewart Moffat born 1929 Clermont, to parents Alexander Moffat and Nancy Stewart. Nancy died before Donald was married in 1949. Donald died 1995 and is buried near Rockhampton. Hoping this may jog someone's memory. Abi
