Sanders in South Carolina

Journal by laurandavis

Hello!

I am researching the Sanders line from Spartanburg and Union counties in South Carolina.

I am currently stuck with a Simpson Sanders b about 1817 in SC, married Lucy Bogan, daughter of Isaac Bogan and Kissiah Gullege.

Simpson had at least one brother, Hiram Sr . Hiram had a lot of children, including Hiram Jr, and a Simpson (md Vianna George).

In 1860 census of Northern Spartanburg County, SC., Simpson and Hiram are next to each other, and a Nancy Sanders, age 67, is next to them as well. Nancy is living with an Ignatious (aka "Nace", and later "Nathan") and his wife and their children. Ignatious was born about 1830.

I have found in a collection of court records for Spartanburg County that a Simpson Sanders received a "Citation for Letters of Administration on the estate of Nancy Sanders, dec.." Filed 24 Jul 1868.

The information points to Nancy being the mother of Hiram, Simpson and Ignatious. I believe she was married to a John Sanders, as all the "brothers" have a child named John.
There were several early John Sanders, but I have not figured out which one was married to Nancy. In 1850 Spartanburg census there is a Nancy Sanders and a "T" Sanders, but that Nancy is listed as age 70, and the Nancy in 1860 is listed as age 67.
