On Sunday deceased went down to the end of the farm which is immediately across from the island, and looked across the channel, hut could not see deceased's boat which was usually tied up on the whare. Stratford Evening Post, 17 July 1911IN COURT Ar the magistrate's Court, Opunake on Thursday, Norman Schwartfeger was charged that on June 19, at Patiki Road, Pihama, he stole once fowl, the value of 3s, belonging to We Paku. Defendant pleaded not guilty. We Paku said he saw defendant shoot the fowl. It did not fall into his property when shot. Defendant said he was out shooting and he saw something bobbing up in the hedge and he fired at the spot. He saw the fowl dead, he did not touch the fowl and was not withing 6ft of it at any time. His Worship state if We Paku had known the law perhaps he would not have laid the charge. Even if the defendant had deliberately shot the fowl, it would not be theft unless he took it and sold it, or converted it to his own use. He was not satisfied that defendant even touched the fowl and, as usual, he was entitled to the benefit of the doubt. It was only right that the fowl should be paid for, The charge was dismissed

Hi Ngaire, I'm Jaz from Australia (although Kiwi born) I have a WOOLSTON connection - my maternal Grandmother Mabel Caroline WOOLSTON b. 24 Dec 1909 in UK. I'm having great difficulty even finding her parents Thomas Henry WOOLSTON or Caroline WOOLSTON (nee JEFFERSON) they were from the North East Coast/Middlesbrough area. They had quite a few children being Mabel, Thomas, William, Lesley, Bernard, Eric, George, Dorothy & Alfred. Mabel WOOLSTON married my Grandfather Gilbert William JUGGINS, they lived in Sheffield and then migrated out to New Zealand post WWII as government assisted passengers on the 'Atlantis' from Southampton - Wellington in 1951 with their children. Mabel & Gilbert eventually settled in Dunedin. I would love any information that you may have gathered while seeking your WOOLSTON connection or any pointers on where I could go to next? I already have quite a bit of history on the JUGGINS side but would now love to do the WOOLSTON side. Thank you very much - Jaz (Australia)
P.S Apparently my WOOLSTON's had a history in a place called Luton - funnily enough that was where my JUGGINS' tree roots started too :)
Jaz - please contact me for information regarding the Woolston's - awoolston44@gmail.com
Mervyn was my grandfather, although he died before I was born. My fathers name is Russell Schwartfeger - he was born in taranaki and we now live in Palmerston North. My father was born in 1958 and has 3 children. My Brother Phil Schwartfeger, my sister Liana Shigida (married), and me, Logan Schwartfeger. My uncle, Graham Schwartfeger has a son and a daughter - Evan and Alena Schwartfeger.
Hope you find this helpful :)
