Searching for BONOAN descendants from the Philippines

Journal by candy bonoan

I started the BONOAN Family Tree more than 20 years ago, using an ancient word processing program then. I've graduated to the Family Tree Maker 2006 this year which was reallya big help. From 450+ individuals, the tree grew to 650+ this year. A big plus was when another BONOAN genealogist hooked up with me to share very important information about family ancestors. Currently, the tree is 8 generations high, but it still has a lot of blanks and a lot of BONOANS I still can't connect.

I've also discovered that family members have married other BONOAN family members. This is why the tree also grew quite large. My own branch appears twice since one of my male Bonoan ancestors married one of my female BONOAN ancestors.

I am finding many BONOANS through the web in different countries but I have difficulty finding them in my own. Philippine records for more than a 100 years ago are not readily available. The BONOANS are from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte. Owing to the fact that the place is quite far from Manila where I am based, I have not been able to visit it yet, although I plan to a few years from now.

Hello. my name is Pualani Bonaon Revis. My mom's name is Venessa Mae Guzman Bonoan Revis. Her mother's name is Severa Bonoan. My lola's nanay's name is Felicidad Guzman. My grandma Severa was born in Illocos Norte. She tells me we still have family there and that seems to be true, according to my research online. I am a fourth generation Pinoy American. My great-grandma was born in Mau'i, Hawai'i around 1927(she's still living). So around that time, my family immigrated to Hawai'i. Many of my family still lives there today but I live in the mainland. Glad to meet some other Bonoans!!!!
