You could try doing a search of Free BMD from Sept 1837 onwards.

Post a lookup request at the Staffordshire board of Rootschat after you have registered as a new user. You should be able to find your ancestors on the Census' for 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 to link up with your 1881 information.

At genealogy sites, it is helpful to include spouse names also.

Be aware that surname spellings may have changed. PICKIN could have been PICKING, PICKEN etc.
