I go to school and am in the First Standard. I like my teacher, Mr McWilliam very much, for he is very kind to us. The threshing mill is working at Mr Lindsay' to-day and we shall have it in a few days. I like to see the mill at work. I have a little kitten. It is grey and white. Will you pleae give me a name for it and also a name for my sister's, which is yellow and white. The old cat carried her kittens into a tin and they got all pink. I have no flower garden of my own, but I am going to make one this year. We have a lot of flowers. The winter will soon be round again and we shall get plenty of sliding. I have not been at school for a lone while, as we have got the whooping cough. Nine of us have it. Had you ever had the whooping cough? Do you know of any cure for it. There was a concert here on the 12th May, but none of us went to it. I hope we can have a picnic next Christmas, as it is too far for us to go to the Naseby sports. Naseby is 15 miles from here. - Yours truly, MARGARET JANE SHAW
... REPLY... Call the kittens Skip and Frisk. No, I do not know of any cure for whooping cough, though at one time lots of children with it were taken to the Dunedin gasworks to inhale the fumes. Whether it did them any good or not I do not know, however - DOT

Hi. I was searching my Gordon relatives and came across your page! I was very excited to see it :) These are my people. Annabella was the daughter of my Great Granddad Alexander Gordon :) I have some information on the family members if you would like and I think some photos too.
I recognise a lot of the names the Shaw girls married as we lived in the Maniototo area (Gimmerburn) and these are old family names there. I
have visited the Gimmerburn cemetary and have photos of some of the Shaw graves. I took my Mum (nee Gordon) to walk around the Shaw farm site. It was awesome, such amazing landscape. I have photos of the Gordon/Shaw graves in the Roxburgh Cemetery - Teviot Valley also.
If you would like more info on these families I will do my best to help you
thank you very much fiveash, I'm sure other researcher would love to see more info. You could add it here or better yet, write your own journal and that way you could add an old photo.
