Shorter/Heather/Gosling from Lewisham/Wisbech/Peckham

Query by TracyH

Hi

I am looking for some family information on my grandparents.

My nan (Doris Elizabeth Shorter)was born on 28/4/13 in Lewisham. She married William Walter Heather in Lee on 18/12/32. She had 2 children John Heather and Patricia Heather (my mum). During the war they were moved up to Wisbech where she met and married her second husband Frank George Gosling - he originally came from the Peckham area of London.

My grandfather (Frank George Gosling) was born in Peckham but I have very little other information apart from he had a brother Bert and a sister Ivy. I think his mothers name was Lillian.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi

Peckham area would come under the registration district of Camberwell.

Name: Frank G Gosling
Mother's Maiden Name: Mills
Registration Year: 1911
Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration district: Camberwell

So a marriage between a male Gosling and female Mills possibly Lilian.

First name(s) FRANK
Last name GOSLING
Marriage quarter 2
Marriage year 1909
Registration month -
LILIAN GERTRUDE MILLS
District CAMBERWELL
District number -
County London
Country England
Volume 1D
Page 1530

Other possible children from marriage:(all born Camberwell district)

GOSLING HERBERT L 1914 (Bert)
GOSLING JACK C 1916
GOSLING BENJAMIN T 1920

I only had a quick look so there may well be an Ivy and others. You could now look up Frank Gosling and Lilian in the 1911 census to get approximate year of birth and place of birth.

Hope this helps your research, let me know if you would like further help.

Kind regards
Shelly
