SIM, JOHNSTON/JOHNSTONE. Brick walls

Query by kerrynk

Hi
my name is Kerryn Keys (nee Sim) and I live on Bribie Island in sunny Queensland Australia.

My problem lies with my dads half brother.

James Sim born 1871 South Shields (son of George and Jane)married Eleanor Bates in 1899. They had 3 children, Eleanor 1900 , Annie 1902 and James born 1904 Salford. Eleanor (mother) died in 1913. James snr and James Jr travelled to Australia in 1923 with intention of going to Mildura. James 1904 stayed in Mildura and was found in the 1924 Electoral roll living there. James Snr traveled back to England to arrange for my grandmother and her children to come to Australia. James snr returned to Victoria in 1925 and married Beatrice Armstrong in 1926 at Geelong. Beatrice had a child to James before leaving England and also called this child James this one born 1925. (too many James!) When James snr returned to Australia he settled in Geelong Victoria. My father was then born Thomas William Sim in 1929. My father was unaware till a few years ago he had half siblings on the Sim side so that is what started me on the family research. What happened to James 1904 after the 1924 electoral roll???? I did find a death for a James Sims in Melbourne in 1977 and contacted everyone including the government trustees etc but cannot prove it is the correct James and if it was him I don't know what happened to him between 1924 and 1977

Thanks Kerryn Keys
