The Roads Family of Buckinghamshire
Hi,
Yes I have been to that site and have the Honour family back aways but it is the James Slade I can't seem to get past. The interesting thing about the marriage record os the witness, John Millburn. James' grandson was named Melbourne (Milburn) as was his great grandson and gr gr grandson (my husband). I have wondered if this is where the name came from, or was it that portions of the family went to Australia?

Dear Gail, For your husband's SLADE ancestors, try other rootsweb world connect family trees, gencircles, geneanet, tribalpages, genesreunited $, messageboards ancestry and rootsweb.
And sign up as a free member of the rootschat.com website. Maybe someone has already researched this surname. You could get lucky.
Some of my ancestors were the ROADS / MERRY / KING / SEAR / RHODES / GILKES etc from Buckinghamshire. Two RHOADES/MERRY brothers emigrated to Australia.
Alison.
Hi Alison,
I have been at this genealogy pastime (or is it addiction?)for over 40 years. Thank you for your suggestions but I have tried most of them. The fellow that runs the Hertfordshire pages has been a great help and if you go there you will see his page on Slades with the information I have sent. Since two of James' wives were from Bucks I decided to do some hunting in Bucks but to no avail. It seems he may have been born in Bovingdon, Hertfordshore but no proof has surfaced to convince me positively yet.
Thanks so much for your kind help and I will keep trying to break through this brick wall. it won't be the first one I have pulled down!
Gail
