Caroline married Bruce WITHERS (1856-1925) on 23 February 1876
- Bruce was born in London, England. He was a Butcher
They moved to the Manawatu at some stage. Bruce was on the Moutoa Estate in 1891 (Moutoa is 5km NW of Shannon & 11km E of Foxton on the Foxton Shannon Rd). He was a ratepayer in Foxton in 1892. He was fined in 1899 for allowing their children to be absent from school

- he married Caroline 'Carrie' PILCHER (1855-1929) in 1877 in Sanson, Manawatu
- they had 10 children
- Caroline was born in Tawa Flat, near Porirua to Stephen PILCHER (1794-1865) and his 2nd wife Bennett Maher HOOK. When her mother Bennett sailed on the COROMANDEL she was a widow, travelling with her children Rachael aged 12, Emily aged 8 and Friend aged 5.
They embarked from St. Katherine`s Docks, London at 4 o`clock on Monsay 9th December 1839 and left London on the following day.
They arrived in Port Nicholson (now Wellington) on Friday 29th August 1840... A journey of nearly 9 months.
Also on board was Stephen Pilcher aged 44 who was travelling as a widower with his 3 children.
A daughter, Sarah, was born to Bennett and Stephen 2 months after they arrived in New Zealand (therefore conceived on board)
They married 2 years later and had another 6 (known) children.
This was a known total of children for Bennett of 10 and 12 for Stephen

They had Henry, Mary Elizabeth and Caroline in Somerset.
Mary Elizabeth died as an infant.
Caroline died aged 19 months just 5 days before they embarked on the QUEEN OF THE AVON to emigrate to New Zealand. Harriet was pregnant at the time and gave birth to a son, Edwin, 4 weeks into the journey.
The ship called into Wellington first on July 13th and landed in Nelson on 29th July.
Because 2 of George`s siblings were already in Nelson it is assumed at this time that is where they went ...
They had a further 10 children in New Zealand
