Spangehl research

Journal by Spangehl

Wilhelm Edward Spangehl, my great-grandfather, came from Ragnit, near Tilset on the East Prussian-Luthianian border, where he was born in 1819. He married Dora Ernestina Heidenreich, who was from Daber in Pommerania, and they had several sons, most of whom died. With one, Carl (or Charles) they emmigrated about 1854 and settled in Troy, New York, where Wilhelm set up as a bookbinder, printing blank books. He moved to New York about 1860, and his printing company, W. E. Spangehl & Sons, lasted until the early 1930's. His other sons were Frederick (my grandfather) and Louis. Contact me (spangehl@sbcglobal.net)if you might be related.

(By the way, the picture isn't me -- I don't look like FDR.)
