Staley from Scotland

Journal by Nastay

I'm keen to contact other researchers with an interest in the Staley family who were raised in Muirkirk, Ayrshire, some of the next generations went to Greenburn, Linlithgowshire. The men were miners and around 1850 most emigrated, 8 siblings, some with their families went to Victoria, Australia and another sibling went to Wisconsin, USA, possibly via the scheme run by the Potter's Society or "The Potters' Joint Stock Emigration Society and Savings Fund" which unfortunately folded, leaving many in dire straits in a new land.
I have a lot of information on these people, which can be seen at: http://www.staleyfamily.com.au/

My brickwall is the wife of the man who started this line from Scotland, Mary Ritchie, I don't have any parents or certificates at all for her, she married Thomas Staley in Leadhills, Lanarkshire in July 1787 and Died in Muirkirk, Ayrshire in March 1831, (this info was copied from a family bible).

Their were 5 children to this couple, all born at Muirkirk, 1788-1796, Margaret, married John McGhee, Anne, married Thomas Greig, Fortune, married (1) Robert Stewart, (2) Patrick Jaffray, Jonathan married Mary Goldie & Thomas was unmarried and died aged 21.
