Takaroa Makutu and George O'Donnell/McDonnell are my great great great grandparents. They are the parents of Tieme Te Puke aka Tiemi Te Puku. His wife was Sarah Barke who married William Parkes in 1854 before coming to NZ. She had 2 sons in 1855 and 1857 before she left William for Tieme who she married in 1880. I had assumed (but never proven) that Takaroa MAKUTU and George O'DONNELL/McDONNELL were the parents of John ODONNELL aka Tiemi TePUKE /TePUKU. I agree that John's wife was Sarah Jane BARKE who married William PARKES in 1854 before coming to NZ. I had her as having one son John George PARKES and one daughter Elizabeth Emma PARKES. Yes Sarah married John ODONNELL in 1880. They had Martha Ann born PARKES and Hugh Augustus also born PARKES and Walter Arthur ODONNELL, John ODONNELL and Louisa ODONNELL. John their son was my Great Grandfather and his son Llewellyn was my Grandfather. I have most of the details from NZ BDM and documents of the 3 generations. I have also assumed Takaroa MAKUTU's family from records but nothing on George ODONNELL. Takaroa was also married to Michael ALDRIDGE (a Whaler) a well documented family in Pelorus Sound. They had about 5 children. There was a big ALDRIDGE family re-union a few years back. What info do you have on the family. Maybe we can exchange some of our research info. I am also a descendent of Michael ALdridge and his first wife Pari (E Pari) Rangituhui.
