jaxcam on 2013-05-30 06:31:02tonkin, this is June Axisa, I have all the Info on John Donaldson and Isabella Carruthers from when they married in Templemore in Derry in March 1863. They made their way to London and sailed on the Star of England and arrived in Moreton Bay on September 14th 1863... I found the Shipping Arrivals for the Brisbane Courier Mail for September 14th. 1863 and it shows the arrival of the Star of England... Their name was Donnelson but when they came ashore to show their Papers, their surname was listed as Donaldson. They lived in Brisbane and had 11 or 12 children. One of their sons was named John, he married a Scottish lady, Margaret Charteris in 1897 ( she is the Scottish connection in the family) One of their sons, was John Carruthers Donaldson, he was my mothers father. Isabella's husband John Donaldson died in on August 17th. 1893 in Brisbane and is buried at Toowong Cemetery. John's parents were William Donaldson and Margaret Williamson, there is a web site I found on Google called " Donaldsons od Muff", it shows all the history of how many children born to William and Margaret and it mentions one of their son's John, migrated to Australia and died there.I have a copy of John and Isabella's marriage Certificate, it says John was a farmer from Caney and Isabella was 19 from Ballynagard and her father was Samuel Carruthers. jaxcam on 2013-06-11 01:30:17Frederick Donaldson joined the AIF 9th Battalion in 1916, he was killed in Somme in France in 1918 shortly before the War ended. I have his War records and a copy of his Enlistment Attestation papers and photos of the Abbyville Communal Cemetery where he is buried.

their first child, a daughter was born in 1864 her death is listed as "before 1968"
I see above that you have her listed as born on December 13th 1864 then died on June 7th 1864, which makes her die , 6 months before she was born....lol
second child was Samuel, born 21 / 4 / 1865..he married Mercy Burnett on 18/ 5/ 1898
and his second wife on the 3/6/1914, her name was Eileen Mary Bohan. Samuel died on
1/5/1933...
third child was Annie Maria, born 22/11/1866
fourth child was John, born 12/12/1868, he married 6/7/1897 to Maggie Charteris ( our Scottish connection) John died on 20/8/1913. Maggie died on 17/6/1914.
fifth child was William James, born 2/8/1870, he married on 28/3/1910 to Mary Agnes Banly. William died 2/5/1929.
sixth child was Margaret Jane, born 7/7/1872, she married 7/3/1900 to George Philip
Reading. no death date for Margaret.
seventh child was Mary, born 9/10/1874, married on 16/9/1903, to Richard Breydon.
eighth child was George Alexander, born 10/3/1877, he married on 12/10/1901 to
Frances Louise Gault.no death date for George.
ninth child was Arthur, born on 24/4/1879. he married 20/3/1909 to Rose Mary Crookall. no death date for Arthur.
tenth child was Frederick, born on 18/5/1881..married on 30/3/1904 to Mary Ingram Sutherland. Frederick died at Somme in France 23/10/1918 He was Captain of the
9th Battalion...
eleventh child was Frances Leslie, born 2/2/1884. he died on 13/4/1885.
twelfth child was Alfred Charles, born 22/7/1886. married on 19/12/1908 to Mary Buchanan.
the 4th son, John was my great grandfather....
If you go on Google, type in 34 Cricket Street ,Brisbane and you will see the house where John and Isabella lived , it is now known as Aussie Backpackers Hostel.
next time we go to Brisbane, we are going to see the house and get photos.....

John died 17/8/1893 in Brisbane. Isabella died 26/1/1910.

We have a birth and death for Margaret, but as you say, Margaret died six months before she was born. These are the dates recorded by the index, but I did not pick up the error.
Could an error have been made when the indexes were being compiled?
John and Isabella had another daughter named Margaret Jane born in 1872 and I expect this must be the Margaret you mentioned that died before 1968.
I will have another look tomorrow.
