What about J. Cook...where is he from and dates? I am looking for the Cook family info dating back to mid to late 1800's. My great granddaddy, I was told, was the sherrif in either Coffee or Covington County, AL. He was a ladies man, although married to a Jane Bowers (?), and had a gold tooth!!! Not much to go on, but he had a brother Cornelius Cook that was born in Alabama too but I can't find him or a death record anywhere in or out of state. I am just getting started on this and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Belinda Mae Cook Herring, daughter of James Winston Cook, son of Jeff Cook and Monester Fortune.
