The early history of a family name Kidd in Craven Yorkshire up until 1800

Journal by brigantia

I am compiling my research journal as a webpage: http://davidkidd.net/Early_Kidds_of_Craven.html
Right now I still have some parishes I have not found registers for. Have you seen them or know where I can find them? You can see which I lack by looking at my webpage. I'm directly descended from a Richard Kidd in Sutton-in-Craven but he is of unknown origins. A hand-loom weaver who came from out of town before 1735 and married a local girl. He's thwarted many geneolgists but amily tradition is he came down from upper Craven. So I have had YDNA done and found Richard was related to the Leeming families of Ribblesdale, there were many Leemings in Waddington and thereabouts. I have found in 1377 there were Kidds in Gisburn and in 1672 a John Kidd lived in Bashall near Clithroe although he's not in the parish register ! So our 1700s Richard is probably from some parish around there. e.g., of Grindleton I just read "During the 18th century the village became a centre for weaving"
However there were also some Leemings up Settle - Clapham way. And high probabilty is not necessary. It only takes two to make a baby !
