One of the founders of Sunday Schools. By 1816 the Sunday
Schools of Tyneside became a Union with George as secretary. He afterwards went to South Australia in 1850 and became the Hon G F Angas of the Upper House and a member of the legislative Council. He organised the South Australia Company, The Bank of South Australia and other companies. His foresight was largely instrumental in winning New Zealand for Great Britian.
Had four daughters and two sons after John Howard.

ANGAS, GEORGE FIFE (1789-1879), merchant, banker, landowner and philanthropist, was born on 1 May 1789 at Newcastle upon Tyne,England, the fifth son and youngest of the seven children of Caleb Angas (1742-1831), coachmaker, and his second wife Sarah Jameson, the widowed daughter of John Lindsay, tobacconist, of Morpeth, Northumberland. His father was a native of Hexham, Northumberland, where his Scottish forbears had settled about 1650. George Fife Angas (1 May 1789 ? 15 May 1879), was a

businessman, Member of Parliament and played a significant

part in the formation of South Australia.Angas was born at

Newcastle upon Tyne, England, the fifth son and youngest of seven

children of Caleb Angas, a successful coach builder and ship

owner. After his mother's death, he received his education at a

boarding school and at age 15 became an apprentice

coachbuilder under his father's direction. Four years later he went

to London to gain further experience and returned to Newcastle in

1809 where he worked as a supervisor for his father's business. He

married Rosetta French in 1812.Over the next 20 years Angas

steadily developed his business, spending time in Honduras.

Angas came from a religious household, and as a religious person

became a secretary of the Newcastle Sunday School Union. He

was asked to stand for Parliament on two occasions but declined

partly due to reasons of poor health. He played a large part in the

founding of the National Provincial Bank of England (which exists

today after several mergers as NatWest) and sat as a director on

its first board...
