After WW1,a MacFarlane was given a balloted block from the N.Z.Govt of the time.
These blocks of land were often unbroken native lands often very rugged and out off the way places.
The MacFaarlne's farmed up the Kihekike valley,located on the Eastern side of the Kawhia Harbor,up the Kari Stream. (approx Grid,NZMS 260 R 15,Kawhia,Edition1 scale 1;50 000,832 429.)
Their farm was on the Te Teheokarukohe Stream.
They no longer farm this block today.
