The Naughton's of Geauga and Lake Counties in Ohio.

Journal by 70dlilly

My grandmother ( on my dad's side)was adopted. She wanted someone in the family to keep track of the family who adopted and loved her. I took the information from her and began my search for other family members. I have been working on my family's genealogy since 1884. I currently have 20 family trees on Ancestry. I have lots more names to research from those family trees.

My maiden name is Naughton. I have been adding names to it on Ancestry to see how far out I can go. The Naughton portion is being actively worked on to fill in missing information of family members who are still alive. The other lines in the family tree are following out the parents in each line and not the children.I currently have two brick walls from my research. Brick Wall #1: The Naughtons that came to this country came from Ireland. I do not know where in Ireland they lived. My 3 great grandfather's name was William John Naughton and his wife was named Mary settled in Thompson, Geauga County, OH. The names of family members are John, Catherine, William, George. William and George may be the same individual (not sure yet.) My Aunt Catherine married into the Sidley family that settled in Thompson, Geauga County, OH. My one grandfather has the name Celestine for his middle name. My Aunt Catherine had a child named Celestine who died young. Brick Wall #2:I have not been able to find the ship they arrived on or the year that they got here.
