- born 23 April 1896 at Stanwell Farm (1600 acres), Balcairn, North Canterbury
- 8th of 8 children of Graham BRUERE (1834-1896) & Elizabeth GOSS. Graham was born in Saleon, East Indies, the only son (+ 5 daughters) of James Graham Sadlier BRUERE Esq., of the East India Civil Service and Augusta BANNERMAN. Graham was an old settler on Mount Grey Downs (was a Freehold owner in the 1862 Electoral Roll of Cheviot). He died suddenly (in bed of Heart Disease) at his farm "Stillwell" on 28 April 1896 aged 62. Annie was just 5 days old at the time. Elizabeth remarried 20 Feb 1902 at St John's Church, Balcairn to Thomas BOYD of Christchurch

My George Sutton was a chemist but his wife was known as Nancy. George was my mother's brother they arrived in New Zealand on the Ionic 1909. George was manager of Bonningtons Chemist Christchurch
