Thomas Captain
I am researching the many Tom Captain's out there. My great-grandfather was Tom Andrew Captain (1884); his father was Tom Captain (1854-born on the banks of the Kaw River); not sure his father's name; there is a Tom Captain (born @1864 who went to the Cherokee with the Bone family after he was orphaned by his father, John, in 1871) he mentions his step-mother Elizabeth so his mother must have died between 1864-1871 which was a turbulent time for the Shawnee or it could be one of the poly marriages. Now a John Captain has in his household a Tom Captain (born 1797 in Ohio) I suspect this may be one of my ancestors but do not have the link yet. There is a John M. Captain and another John Captain close to the same age. There is also a Baptiste Captain I need to find how he fits in the maybe 1790 or 1800 census.
Then there is DAN-UCK-AH Little Captain of the Absentee Shawnee.
I am a member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe but my ancestors could have gone Eastern or Absentee or Cherokee-Shawnee. Actually Cora Jackson was Cherokee-Shawnee which has now become The Shawnee Nation.
At any rate if anyone has any clue that fits into this scenario, I would appreciate a reply. Thank you,
