At present I am trying to make the connection between the Wotherspoon's from Kelty to the Wotherspoon's from Bellshill, Airdrie, and Monklands area and in my research on my mothers side, the Wotherspoon family, I have through research done at the GRO in Edinburgh, traced what I believe to be the family of George Wotherspoon who was born in 182, on the 1871 census in Rutherglen, George died before that census in Airdrie on 23 Jan 1865, the informant on his death was his brother John Wotherspoon, and I believe their parents were Robert Wotherspoon and Lillias Stewart.

If I am on the right track George Married a Mary McDonald in New Monkland on 01/04/1847 and that they had a son called John McDonald Wotherspoon born after 1861, this is the son who appeared on the 1871 census with his widowed mother.

I am trying to find out if George's father Robert Wotherspoon is the Robert born 1802 to Mathew Wotherspoon and Elisabeth Lenox that I have in my family tree and if not them who the parents of George's father Robert were.
