Bridget Meade - Red Rover 1832
Bridget Meade was with a group of Irish young women who sailed from Cork, Ireland in 1832 bound for Australia. Arrived in Sydney and married a shipwright William Anderson 18 Nov 1832. Keen to fill in the gaps to this story as I compile my family history. Was she an orphan or just from a poor house? Is there a list of passengers for this voyage?
Seeing information on settler John Philps (1803-1863) and Joseph Norval BELL (1845-1925)
I am a resident of Wellington and researching my ancestors with the aim of passing on my findings to my immediate family.
Two avenues I'm searching:
1. Joseph Norval Bell (b. Aug 24, 1845) Glasgow, Scotland - arrived in Wellington on the 'Lord William Bentinck' on 19 May 1841. My Great Grand Father - my Grandmother was Hilda May BELL (1895-1981).
Any information on his time in Wellington (Golan's Valley) and later in Campbelltown (Rongotea) would be appreciated. Birth Certificated, Census details, Marriage Certificates (he first married Eleanor STOCKBRIGE (1859-1871) who died in 1871 - presumably during child birth. He then married Elizabeth Maunder? Philps (q859-1920) on 7 Mar 1879)
His father Joseph Bell (b. 1817, Renfrew, Scotland) - date of death unknown. He married Elizabeth Scott HARVEY (2 Jul 1840) in Scotland. Seeking confirmation of this information and any other details in this family tree.
2. Seeking more detail on the activity of John PHILPS (b 1803 in Dorking, England) and died Jan 81863 in Golan's Valley.
