Descendent of Wilhelm Rudolph (Pupuke)

My name is Julia Kingi - middle child of Duncan Raihania Kingi/Jane(Jenny) Eliza Tahuripo Kingi (nee Rudolph), born and bred in West Auckland NZ. My mother is the youngest and only living daughter (4 brothers now deceased - David, Henry, Edward and Hepi)of Reid James Rudolph/Sarah Julia Rudolph (nee Porter/Poata). My Granddad (Ba) was the son of Hone Ru Rudolph/Apikaiira Pakete Rudolph (nee Rapata). His Siblings being Miriama, Meri, Isaac (1), Isaac (2) aka Noble, and Robert (Bob). Hone Ru Rudolph was the son of Wilhelm James Rudolph/Miriama Rudolph (nee Patara)second marriage. His Siblings being Wiremu (Bill) and Tame (Tom). From what my Grandma (nana) and mother had voiced - Wilhelm had been placed on a ship (a somewhat pirate ship)by his parents in Germany (they both said he had been 'naughty') and sent to New Zealand to start a new life. He had arrived in Northland, made a life and married his first wife Marae Josephine Wharepapa then remarried later to Miriama Patara - A little of why he remarried was somewhat sketchy. So this is my direct line to Wilhelm James Rudolph. I have been researching the family and have gained a lot from my genealogy.

My Grandmas line being a Porter/Poata is that she is the daughter of Ritete Poata/Miriama Muka Poata. Her Siblings being Hana (1), Gideon, Myra, Sam (1), Hana (2), Kara, Simione, Miriam, and Sam (2) aka Zarm. Her fathers father from my understanding was a William Porter an American./Marara Tupe. Ritete's siblings being Keina, Iraia, Paki, Ihaka, Arapata (Bart), Te Auraki and only daughter Huriata (she married Ivan James Urlich - thus, our connection with the Urlich Whanau). My research into William Porter undoubtedly ended here.

As for Apikaiira Pakete Rudolph (nee Rapata)I am able to trace her line right back to her ancestors landing here in New Zealand, the descent from Rahiri, the descent from Nepia Te Morenga, the descent from Hariata (Te Kirihini) Rapata and my connection to Hone Heke and Hongi Hika.

A lot of my research would not have been possible if it were not for Matiu MCCully and Margaret Mutu and their book 'TE WHANAU MOANA', also numerous online searching and stories from whanau. My reason for placing this now is that many of our elders are reducing in numbers and apart from word of mouth or what we say here in this forum shows a lot of our heritage is being lost. I hope this enables you to further your own research and give answers to questions that you may have had.
