WAS ANNIE WARD MURDERED

Annie Drury was born in York in 1874 and married George Ward in 1898. George was a miller from Kyme St York.
Their daughter Adelaide May Ward was born in 1899 possibly in Leeds..(she had a twin Sidney who died at birth)
Annie and Adelaide migrated to Sth Australia about 1909 (apparently George was already in Australia) Family rumour says that in 1916 Annie died in a house fire when she caught fire from a candle dripping onto her nightwear.
Rumour also says that George Ward was deported back to England soon after---maybe murder?---Adelaide was my grandmother and she married Harold Ethelbert James Skinner in 1919. I am so stuck trying to find info about this

more info - I now know Annie Drury's father was Thomas George Drury born 1852. He married Sarah Ely (born 1852) in 1871.Their children-all born in Leeds - were
