As stated earlier I only have 4 children listed and have changed some of the death place, but it could be were they were buried as the places you had could be the place of death, the towns are all near each other.
I was not good at recording were I came across my information
Hello lynniegirl.
Thank you for the extra details. I'm sure your input will be of interest to other researchers.
The places I have here are the places of death as recorded in the VDI and not burial places. The VDI does not record the place of death.
Looks like we have conflicting birth details for Alexander and Allen and I will recheck the records again to asure myself I have the correct information as per VBI for the birth of Alexander. I have only just replied to a journal regarding two children of 'Alfred BALDOCK and Kate OHALLARAN' with a similar problem.
I will follow up after rechecking the records and comment again.
Hi lynniegirl.
Having rechecked the records I can now confirm Alexander John Thomas WEBSTER is the correct name recorded in the birth index and not Alan.
I had another look for the birth of Allen (or Alen) but there is nothing recorded.
I'm now starting to think that Alexander and Allen may be the same person, but I have nothing to confirm this to date. I know the BDM indexes have been transcribed many times over the years and there are sure to be errors made with the spelling of names along the way. This may explain the variations in the spelling of names we come across when searching the BDMs.
You now need to try and find out where you obtained the birth of Alan from. An error has certainly been made somewhere and we now need to find out where.
If you can pass on any more details about Alan I would be very happy to assist with further research and hope this has been of some help to you.
Evening tonkin,
Marked in my family tree maker I have, were I found the parents of Alan which is John Thomas WEBSTER to Catherine GOLDING I haven't tried doing any more as I have gotten side tracked, I have written family member as reference, but who I am not sure of.
At present I am working on my Mother side the Baldock's must write a journal about my grandfather very interesting been in the process of changing computers, which can be a nightmare in its self
Thank you lynniegirl.
It is now clear to me your family member has picked up on the death of Allen John WEBSTER in 1968 with parents named as Thomas WEBSTER and Catherine GOLDING. This is how I found Allen, but I have not located any record for his birth. I included his year of birth as circa 1892 going by his age recorded at death.
We have now confirmed from the birth records they had a son named Alexander born in 1890, but unable to locate his record of death.
We have located the death of their son Allen that died in 1968, but unable to locate his record of birth.
I'm still searching the records trying to work things out, but to my way of thinking Alex and Allen must be the same person.
Come on all you FTC members - how about a helping hand here.
Hi tonkin,
Just going back thought old posts going back to Allen John WEBSTER son of Thomas WEBSTER & Catherine GOLDING there 3rd son I have down as Alan John Thomas Webster (Difference spelling first name) Born in 1890 in Natimuk, Victoria, Australia and that is all I have not sure if he had been married or had children.
I am wondering the Allen you are talking about is this Alan?
Have a Safe & Happy New Year
Lynne
Hi Lynne.
I can find no birth record for Allen (or Alan) John Thomas WEBSTER born in Natimuk in 1890, only for Alexander John Thomas WEBSTER. As I mentioned before, I expect this Alex and Allen will be the same person. It's possible an error was made when the indexes were being compiled. The birth certificate for Alex may confirm this.
Nothing can be located in the BDMs to indicate if this Allen ever married. If Allen was married his death certificate for 1968 should name his wife and children.
I have not searched any papers for his death and funeral notice as yet so there are still other sources that can be searched.
Will let you know if I find out any further details.
Happy New Year 2012. Only seven hours to go in the Garden State of Victoria.
allen john thomas webster was not married. he was my nan's brother. he died in ballarat. i have his death details which i will post to you if you would like.
Thank you for your reply Janette.
It makes me feel better knowing Allen was not married. I say this because I could not find any details in the records to indicate he was.
Now make my day and tell me if your nan had a brother named Alexander John Thomas WEBSTER, born in Natimuk in 1890.
Happy New Year 2012. Two hours to go in the Garden State of Victoria.
no - unless he is the evil twin hidden away since birth. ... hey, stranger things have happened in our family !!!!
Thanks again Janette.
That indicates to me the birth recorded for Alex in 1890 will be an error, and this will be the birth for Allen.
It's not the first time I have come across the wrong names being recorded.
Thank you for your assistance.
