What happened to Mary Morgan?
Mary Morgan of Glamorgan in Wales, married Thomas John Morgan in Clunes, Victoria Australia in 1866. They had 6 six children, one died, another posthumous after Thomas's death in a mining accident in 1877. The two sons remained in Victoria, however I have found no trace of Mary or her three remaining daughters after his death. A record of probate in 1878 bequests his estate under 100 pounds sterling to Mary, which says she was at that time still residing in Clunes. Victorian BDM Registry does not show any records. Did they return to Wales? If so when and where to?

Information comes from marriage certificate 1866 for Thomas and Mary (both with the Morgan surname), birth certificates for all children plus death certificate for one ( and sorry there were 7 children, 6 survived), death certificate 1877 for Thomas, and England & Wales Probate Records. Also various certificates for both sons from marriage, births of children and death. All that is well sourced, Mary and the girls are the problem. Thanks for looking. sandieC
Hi Sandie
I am a direct descendant of John Morgan-who was born in 1836 and is (unless I am wrong) was Thomas John Morgan's older brother.
I have a huge family tree of Morgans - based on birthday books, family bible, etc.
Also several cousins.
I would be really interested to confirm that Thomas is John's brother, and also to know children and dates.
I assume you have Mary's parent names from marriage certificate?
Let me know - appreciating this response is 9 years late!
Cheers
Julian
I also have a Mary Morgan born 3rd July 1869 - I hoped she might be Thomas and Mary's daughter...
