My name is Makita Williams I am the eldest daughter to Kevin (Kona) Te Whaki Williams-Wi Te Koha Of Paeroa.
I am looking into my whakapapa, Researching and have found my Koro is hard man to find, Birth, Marriage ect. I did find the Burial at Hauraki District Council, at the Pukerimu Cemetery, And at some stage another record of his occupation as a dragline operator.
He went under different names,
- Herbert Charles Williams/Wi Te Koha
- Herbert Charles Fredrickson
- Herbert Kupai Williams/Wi Te Koha
He was married to my grandmother Nan Moe moana Kiwikiwi/Williams.
I cannot find out much at all.
It only says 1933 as a birth and death Dec 21 1982 Paeroa.
Last Address was Mill Rd Paeroa.
Ngati Tamatera.
If any one could please point me in the right direction, or know where I could find my Koro it will be greatfully and humbly appreciated.

Did your Koro have any siblings still alive who could help?
Did he have other children ?
I guess you have tried all the obvious things.

Unfortunately, you cannot search historical records for his parents unless it's 100 years ago. For example if he was born before 14 Aug 1919.
I'm hoping some whanau will read your message, which they will find if they are searching on google.

Thank you for having me here and getting back to me.
Yes he is quiet elusive and a bit of a struggle to find.
His Mother remarried, so not sure if he went under his step fathers name or his biological father.
I did start my search with my Grandmother Moe Moana kiwikiwi/Williams, and found her side from Kiwikiwi, Remana-Reti, (Corporal) John Cherrington, Baron De Thierry and the Muskett wars. Amongst many other things I found pictures of my grandfather. My older brothers told me stories but couldn’t remember names ect.
Another cousin has restricted access, so for me it’s a hunt to find my Koro.
