Many thanks for your info. I have tried through familysearch and BMD to find Sarah Worths birth maiden name with no success. Can you recommend any other site. Appreciate your help. Zealandia was my husbands great grandmother. Brenda
Charles Frederick Worth.
Have found after a lot of help Sarah Worths maiden name was JACOB
Parents were Gibson and Louisa Jacob married in Suffolk. Children being Samuel 1828,Sarah 1830,Celia or Selah,1838,Alice 1839,Phillip1844,Richard1846,Cyrus1848. The 1851 census states they were born in Eye,Suffolk. Samuels wife Jane died before 1881 and a niece Julia was also living there at the time of the census Brenda
Charles Frederick and Sarah Worth were my great-grandparents.Their son Charles Frederick jnr. was my grandfather. My parents were Eric and Joy.
Charles and Sarah are buried together in Karori cemetery. He died in Adelaide en route to England and presumably his body was brought back for burial. A cousin, Jane Stephens ( granddaughter of Charles and Ellen), and I have recently had the grave restored.
Charles and Sarah had a large family but as far as I know, the only 3 of their children who had families were Emily,Zealandia and Charles.
Incidentally there is speculation that Charles senior's mother may have been Emily Sinnock who emigrated to New Zealand a few years after him.
Louisa Jacob died in 1875 and Gibson remarried in 1885.On the marriage certificate his father is named as Robert. Gibson's age is shown as 68. However on his death, less than 3 years later, the cert. states his age as being 80!
I would be interested in any other info, you have about descendants of Charles and Sarah.
