looking for Gifford, Giffert, McGifford, Stewart, Barclay ,O'Hara & Clark.

My parents McGifford & Stewart immigrated to Sask., Canada in 1925&6 I grew up in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. I now live in Nova Scotia [retired] My work time was with Public Utilities, mainly water but I always farmed on the side, cattle and horses. My hooby was breeding, training and showing Reg. American Saddlebred horse's. Along with fishing & hunting. Prime time was Salmon on the Alberni Canal or Gergia Strait at Campbell River and hunting Elk in the East Kootenays and in the south Okanagan. I started collecting information
re family history several years ago and I now have a mass of information, including birth, marriage & death certificates. My intention now is to get everything documented, preferrably in book form, but haven't accessed a proficient site to date. Having never met any family past my parents until I stated into family history it is exciting to make contact with family around the world, but mainly in Canada, U S of A, New Zealand, Australia and Scotland. Information on McGiffords from Ireland, Stewarts of Scotland.

My greatgrandfather was James McGifford of Belfast Ireland, married
to Mary Carson.One of their son,s Arthur married Margaret O'Hara,and
I believe she died, Arthur then married Jane Barclay. Arthur and Jane
had children named James, Mary, Jean, William, Thomas and Hugh.
Hugh was born September 1889 in Govan Scotland, Hugh married Isobella
Clark Stewart,on December 1913. [she was born to John Stewart and Elizabeth Stewart,[Clark] on September 1894 in Govan Scotland.
Hugh and Isobella had five children in Scotland named, Elizabeth,
Isobel, Allan, Jean and William. This family immigrated to Canada in
1925, residing in Saskatchewan where Helen, [twins] Margaret & Mary,
John and Edwin were born. In 1945 they moved to British Columbia.
Hugh, Isobella, Elizabeth, Isobel, William and Edwin have passed away. My grandfather John Stewart operated a dairy farm in Glasgow
area, called "Sweethills Farm" also operated a store {co-op I believe] in Govan. He also owned a summer home in Dunoon [not sure of
spelling]. My grandfather Arthur is shown as a Corporation Labourer.
Other names mentioned in papers as family are, Helen Stewart, Jeanie
McGifford, M. S. Barclay, and M. S. Clark.
Any information would be appreciated.

McGiffords & Stewarts of Govan Scotland

Hi my name is John. Great Grandparants are James McGifford & Mary Carson [from Ireland] My Grandparents are Arthur McGifford & Margaret O,Hara Arthur re-married Jane Barclay, my father Hugh McGifford came from this marriage. Hugh married Isobella Clark Stewart, daughter of John Stewart and Elizabeth Stewart [maiden name Clark] on December 25th 1913 at Govan, Lanark. My parants resided at 53 Copland Rd. Govan. Witness,s to this marriage were Jeanie McGifford, M. S. Barclay, M.S. Clark, Helen Stewart, Alexandra Findlay with John MacGilchrist as Minister and F. B. Crawford as the Registrar. Other relatives noted are Aunt Joan Bramma of Glasgow,
Betty Georgeson of Warwickshire England,a Lizie and George Cameron
with no address. Five children were born to Hugh & Isobella in Scotland, Elizabeth, Isobel, Allan, Jean and William. My Parents
immigrated to Canada in 1925, living in Saskatchewan until 1945 where
another five children were born, Helen, [twins] Margaret & Mary, John
and Edwin. By 1945 Elizabeth married James Hoare, Isobel married
Clifton Brown, Allan married Jean Watson, Jean married Reg Williams
and William married Edna Musser. In 1945 the rest of the family moved to British Columbia, at future dates, Helen married John Starrett, Margaret married Lawrence Burns, Mary married Sigurd Larson,John married Lauretta Hasleoh and Edwin married Pat Burns.
I am presently living in Nova Scotia and anybody having information on relatives, distant or otherwise would be appreciated.
