My great great grandfather was James George Smith born in 1852 and died in 1902 and is buried in Benton County Arkansas, buried close to him is his mother, her headstone says Martha Melvina wife of (appears to say) C R Smith. In the 1900 census Jame George states he was born in Ioway, his father in England and his mother in Ireland. I can find no other census with James George Smith listed. And with the initials only of his dad and no maiden name for Martha, I am at a loss. Arkansas did not have death certificates when James George or Martha died and can not find a birth certificate for James in Iowa. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
