My Fortune line came from Ireland--I don't have the first name for the first Fortune who came to Nova Scotia. His son, John, is my paternal great grandfather. Grampa John was born in Nova Scotia about 1844. He and his wife, Johanna Leighton, traveled from Nova Scotia to Maine by way of New Brunswick. I have an Uncle Thomas, John's brother. John's son, Henry Thomas, adopted my dad in Portland, Maine USA.
